What does it take to become the very best in the world at something? What does it take to become a legend, even an icon in your profession?

If you have ever asked yourself these questions, this book is for you.

I recommend “Relentless” to every coach, trainer, CEO, business owner (big and small) on the planet and just about any other profession you can think of. It´s one of my favorite books on Winning and being unstoppable from a legendary coach.

And especially I recommend this book to anyone who is trying to achieve something BIG in life because the principles that apply to professional sports, also apply to many other professions and enterprises. Additionally, I recommend this book to someone who is trying to achieve the “impossible”, who is playing against all odds.

As Kobe Bryant greatly writes on the cover of Relentless; This book is about discovering what you are capable of, getting results you never imagined, reaching the highest level of success and then going even higher”.

The greatest battles you will ever fight are with yourself, and you must be your toughest opponent. Demand more from yourself than anyone can ever demand from you.

Even though I am a success coach, and I didn’t train Michael Jordan, or Kobe Bryant, I share with Tim some of the deepest believes about achievement and what it takes to reach the highest levels of success in whatever you do.

———————————-

So here are the most important things I learnt from the book…

  1. BE RELENTLESS

Relentless is about achieving the impossible. Its about never being satisfied, always driving to be the best, and then getting even better
    .

The word relentless is used in sport to describe the most intense competitors and achievers available. Those who don’t stop for any reason in order to get the end result. In sports being relentless is measure by victories, championships; rings etc.

In real life, being relentless can give you the edge to become the best, to achieve the impossible, to overcome incredible odds.It means craving the end result so intensively that the work becomes irrelevant. The ability to be relentless is in all of us.

You don’t have to play basketball like Michael Jordan in order to have his mind set, mental toughness and apply iI to anything you do in life.

Relentless people OVERCOME whatever obstacle is between them and their goals and dreams.

If you re relentless there is no such thing as half way, not could or should, or maybe.

Truly relentless people-the cleaners-are predators who refuse to be taught to be good.

Being relentless means constantly working for the end result. Being relentless is about every minute.

—————————————

  1. A CLEANER IS the ULTIMATE COMPETITOR
who refuses to be satisfied with just trying or merely giving “his best”. He recognizes himself in those individuals who don’t just do a job, but they define the job.In sports would be Champions like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Tiger Woods, Rafael Nadal.

In business would be people like Jeff Bezos, or Steve Jobs. They achieve goals that most others consider impossibleThey dominate their sports, industries or businesses.

One great performance or year doesn’t make a cleaner. A cleaner becomes legendary through their career. It’s the ability to repeat success over and over, year after year.

A cleaner is never satisfied, is always trying to improve, to get better, to dominate, and to become the best ever.
A cleaner shuts down all the internal noise, all the frustrations, fears and negativity.
A cleaner works through physical challenges that would put others on the bench, or in bed just to taste victory one more time.
A cleaner finds unparallel success by following his instincts.
A cleaner is used to being uncomfortable, and playing with pain or obstacles.
A cleaner is the most intense and driven competitor imaginable. He refuses limitations. He does whatever it takes to get what he wants. He is addicted to success and achievement. It defines his entire life and his identity.

A cleaner has raw ANIMAL INSTINCTS.

A cleaner makes everyone else get on his level; you are not going down to theirs. You are not competing against anyone else. They are going to have to compete against you.

A cleaner is never satisfied, never content, always pushing higher and higher.

A cleaner has the guts and the vision to steer everything to his advantage. You never know what he is going to do.

A cleaner locks in his mission and stops at nothing to execute it. Its like a Navy Seal. He knows what has to be done and he does it. He expects to succeed.

A cleaner has total confidence in his gut. His heart decides.
A cleaner doesn’t just think about success but he strives to prove it, with no days off. He has the ability to show up at the gym every day and do what no one else is willing to do.

  1. RAISE YOUR STANDARDS

Everything in this book is about raising your standard of excellence. It’s going beyond what you have already done and achieve.

Raising your standards means to become unstoppable, to raise your level of excellence beyond anything you have done. You become unstoppable by placing no limits on yourself.

It doesn’t matter how good you think you are, or other people think you are, you can dramatically improve. Being relentless means demanding more from yourself than anyone else could ever expect, understanding that every time you stop, you can do more, and you MUST do more.
It’s about work ethic, and relentless drive, and uncompromising focus on their goals.

    Daily-Inspiration-TURBOMIND--www.turbomind.com.-Relentless,-from-Good-to-Great-to-Unstoppable,-Tim-Grover

Success is not the same as talent. The world is full of people with great talent who don’t accomplish much. They blame everything and every one but themselves, and don’t achieve much. They are content with “pretty good”

If you want to be truly successful you cannot be content with “pretty good”, you must find that extra gear, higher level.

    ————————

  2. NO OBSTACLES, ONLY SITUATIONS WAITING TO BE SOLVED

Never see obstacles or problems, See situations in need of solutions, WAITING TO BE SOLVED
. Michael Jordan was the best because he was relentless about winning, relentless in his belief that there is no such thing as good enough.

    ———————————–

  3. THINK BIGGER

There is a level even higher, completely attainable but so challenging that most people don’t even dare to dream it.Greatness makes you a legend. Being the best makes you an icon. If you want to be great, deliver the unexpected. If you want to be the Best, deliver a miracle.
So, in order to be relentless, to be the best, you need to push your thinking, to think bigger, expand your vision, increase your confidence.

    —————————-

  4. COOLERS AND CLOSERS

A cooler is careful, he waits to be told what to do
, watches too see what everyone else is doing and then follows the leader.
A closer can handle a lot of pressure, he will get the job done he you put him in the right situation and tell him exactly what he needs to do.

    —————————

  5. GO FOR MENTAL DOMINANCE

Physical dominance can make you great.
Mental dominance is what ultimately makes you unstoppable.
Controlled anger is a deadly weapon in the right hands.
Mental dominance, you tell your body what to do and you do it.

    ————————–

  6. Do not think, just do and act
Instant response based on experience and preparation is all you need. In extreme situations you don’t think, you just do. You think you die.

    ——————————

  7. GIVE YOUR MAXIMUM FOCUS AND DEDICATION

There is no substitute for hard hard work and a
massive work ethic. The best of the best have a massive work ethic.
When you are willing to go to the gym 3 times a day to work on any detail of your game, as Kobe Bryan does, you are pretty much ready to achieve the impossible, as he did.
It’s a matter of commitment and being relentless cleaner.A cleaner is insatiable in is desire to work, always looking for the extra edge. In his level of excellence there is no room for error.

    ———————————

  1.  BE AN EXPERT AT ONE THING

Concentrate your energy, focus on one thing you can be really really good at.
People get paid a fortune for being the expert at one thing, so when others need that one thing done, you are the one they are calling.
Figure it out what you want to do and do it better than anyone else. And then let everything else build around that one thing.

    ——————————–

  2. HAVE HIGH TOLERANCE FOR PHYSICAL AND MENTAL PAIN
One of the hardest things for an athlete is to determine how much fatigue and pain he is willing to endure and how far he can push himself.A cleaner has a high tolerance for physical and mental pain, he takes it as a challenge to see how much he can endure and how well he can play when he is not healthy.

    —————————

  3.   YOU CAN ACHIEVE YOUR MOST OUTRAGEOUS DREAMS

Every Big Dream you have inside your mind and soul is not a fantasy, it’s your instinct telling you that not only it’s possible, it’s your destiny. In other words, if you have a deep desire for a dream is because deep inside you know it’s for you to make it real. Follow those dreams and desires and believe you can make them a reality. Constantly work on your dreams.  It’s your duty to turn those dreams into reality. Don’t stop until you do.The greatest battles you will ever fight are with yourself, and you must be your toughest opponent. Demand more from yourself than anyone can ever demand from you. Be prepared for anything and anyone.
You have zero limitations. Follow your instincts. They show the best way.

ACTION S FROM THE BOOK

What are you willing to sacrifice to get what you really want?

FAVORITE QUOTES FROM THE BOOK

Do whatever is necessary to make it happen.

This book is about discovering what you are capable of, getting results you never imagined, reaching the highest level of success and then going even higher”.

The greatest battles you will ever fight are with yourself, and you must be your toughest opponent. Demand more from yourself than anyone can ever demand from you.

It doesn’t take talent to work hard, anyone can do it.

The Best get better by sweating the details.

I have accomplished and experience enough impossible things to realize that nothing is impossible, and every day I crave the challenge of proving that.

It takes years of tireless dedication and unimaginable hard work to build a legacy like Kobe Bryant.

Forget about trying, because if you are trying, then losing is still an option. You want to be the best? Then you ignore the pain and exhaustion.

If you want success of any kid you have to be comfortable being uncomfortable.

You don’t get to be the best at anything without blistering confidence and an impenetrable shell. You get there by taking huge risks that others won’t take, because you rely on your instincts.

To be the best, weather in sports or business or any other aspect of life, it’s never enough to just get to the top, you have to stay there, and then you have to climb higher, because there is always someone right behind you trying to catch up.

Everything you need to be great it’s already inside of you.

Most people give up because everyone has told them what they can’t do.

If you don’t make a choice the choice will be made for you.

Let People judge you by the results and nothing else.

Doing whatever it takes to go to where you want to be.

Willing himself through a grueling two-month rehab that would have taken anyone else three months. You did that. Do not tell me you can’t do this.

“In order to have what you really want, you must first be who you really are”

That’s your name on the jersey. Remind them who you are. Go get what’s yours.

FINAL COMMENT FROM THE BOOK

Are you willing to make the decision to succeed? Are you going to stand by your decision when it gets hard, or will you quit? Will you choose to keep working and pushing yourself when everyone is telling you to quit?

Pain comes in all shorts of forms-physical, mental, emotional. Do you need to be pain free or can you work with pain and being uncomfortable?
Can you push through the pain barrier and stand by your commitment?

This book is one you have to read if you want to be the best, a legend or an icon in your profession. There might be some controversial issues in the book, but all around its hard to get a better wake up call to what the human will, determination and commitment can do, achieve and manifest.

As the Roman general said so well thousands of years ago, “We  will find a way or we will build one, but we will go through

All of my life I have been fascinated by what the human will can do, what a totally committed, determined person can do and achieve in his or her lifetime. What a person who refuses to give up or give in is able to achieve.

I have seen so many people with extraordinary talent not achieving anything special. On the other hand, I have seen average people with extraordinary mindsets make the impossible possible.

What do you really want to achieve in your life? What do you want to make happen? How committed are you to do what’s necessary to achieve great results and become the best at what you do? How committed are you to overcome every possible obstacle and come ahead successful?
