I love this book from Jocko Willink. You can read it in a few hours. I love the messages and the language he uses. Language creates images and these affect your self-image. You can feel the power of the words he uses.
Jocko Willink is a decorated retired 20-year Navy SEAL officer with multiple awards like the Silver Star, and Bronze Star. Now he teaches leadership principles he learned on the battlefield to help others lead and win through his company Echelon Front.

There are great psychological advantages that come from exercising early in the morning. First you feel great about yourself, you are wining on your competition. It gives you confidence.
Waking up early and working out hard demands double discipline on both fronts. First you have to wake up, then work out hard. Will power and discipline grow as you reinforce them. Anything you repeat gets stronger and it becomes easier to repeat.
Try this, before you go to bed tonight; plan your work out for tomorrow morning (this is something similar to what Jason Selk says on his great book “Organize Today Tomorrow”, to write your most important priorities for tomorrow, today)
Just by planning what you are going to do, even in your head, actually helps you make it a reality, why? Because you are creating mental images of -you doing what you are planning- and this process makes it EASIER TO PERFORM THEM in the physical world.
When you plan, you create mental images and these change your self-image. The mind cannot differentiate between a mental image and the actual reality.
Also, get your workout clothes ready, so you don’t have to think, or get them while you are half asleep. Get them ready. Planning is a critical part of achievement and success.
When you don’t prepare the next day, you tend to WASTE time and under-perform. You are in constant reaction to the things that come your way, even if they are not important. You lose concentration, focus and power.
Discipline gives you more discipline, a better and more powerful you.
Get you alarm clock and GET OUT OF BED WHEN IT GOES OFF.
